To My Bravest Mother

YOU HAVE THE CURE

You're still one of the bravest mothers I know. Whether or not I agreed with you at the time, you stood up for me no matter what. I remember one time in particular when I told you there was something in the backyard, you found out it was a Caterpillar, and you just went out and chased it away. I'm still in awe of your bravery, and I hope I can be just like you. You are supermom in my eyes, and I'll still see you that way even when my hairs turn grey.

How did my supermom end up getting breast cancer? Why is it that the most important woman in my life has to go through this? I remember you entering in my room when you first felt lump on your left breast and I took you to see Doctor next morning to examine your breast I still remember how serious the lump in your breast was when the surgeon showed me your operated lump. It felt like everything was crashing down on me. I was upset with you, for not seeing doctor soonerbecause you believed you could take care of things by yourself. There’s so much things we need to do together, there's still so much for us to experience. You need to be there when I meet the love of my life, sit next to me while I’m covered with beautiful bridal white gown, and  to let you hold your grandchildren and shower them with all the love that you gave me.

Taking care of you since you started treatment has given me a new found of appreciation for everything that you did for me, and I didn't really understand how hard it is until I took over. Even when you're weak and aren't feeling well, you still help me, especially when I leave home for hostel. You're still supermom trying to teach me your ways, and it makes me love you more than you will ever know.

Dear Mama, when you have a setback, thoughts will tell you, it’s permanent. You’ll never get well again if you believe those lies, you’ll get discouraged and lose your believe. If your cancer is too great, the opposition is too strong, God wouldn’t have allowed it. It’s a test. What are you going to do? Get discouraged, give up your fight against cancer or are you going to believe that God is on the throne, that he’s bigger than what you are facing, that the trouble is temporary, that it’s not going to last long? What you believe in times of trouble will determine whether you come out or whether you get stuck there. God didn’t bring you this far to leave you. You must know that your cancer is not permanent. It will soon be over because you already have the cure.
